I know, I’m surprised I updated too. I gotta keep practicing if I’m going to get a good enough demo to DJ up here in DC. Mix is mostly electro with one DnB song at the end that doesn’t really fit with the rest of the mix, but I liked it too much not to include it.
Dj Shoryu - Apprentissage (75mb)
Another day, another dance-rock trio from New York. Brooklyn, to be specific. Catchy, straightforward pop with electronic hooks layered on top. This song is actually pretty old, but still catchy.
Nice post-punk effort from Rin Toshite Shigure, a japanese indie rock band from Saitama.
They definitely have a Number Girl sound to them.
10 years ago, Daft Punk came out with a live comp entitled “Alive 1997.” Since then, their popularity and sphere of influence has exploded, but it’s nice to see them sticking to their roots. Here’s a new track to get you ready for their new album, which drops today.

Another day, another mix. This one clocks in a bit shorter and a whole hell of a lot tighter, since I actually paid attention to the thematic arrangement of the music. The music ranges from indie electronica acts like LCD Soundsystem and Digitalism to hard noise like the Beetroots. Also, I threw in a nice cut-up of Justice’s “Water of Nazareth.” With all the holiday parties coming up, I still tried to keep it ‘dancey’ but not stupid, and the mix progresses from more amelodic pieces like “Digital Mind” to more mellow, danceable stuff like “Star Guitar” at the end. I couldn’t really think of a great title for this mix, so I stole it from one of the opening songs. I was a little distracted by AIM while recording this. And drinking beer. However, I think it came out decent for what it is. Next time, I promise to focus more.
